TECHNICAL TEXTILES, NEW SILHOUETTE

My research at the Royal College of Art is exploring the combination of cubic pattern, thermo mould textiles and innovations in related products. The baseball cap and flat cap are difficult to store. Using the open-and-close feature of the cubic pattern allows for a new collapsible structure. Following Issey Miyake's inversion process in 'Pleats Please', I have been experimenting with pleating pre-made garments rather than cutting pleated material. The next phase of my research will be to see how new structures and forms of garment, work in tandem with body movement and functionality in both theatre costume and daily wear.
