THE 1900 COSTUME

The skill of reconstructing the costume of a certain moment in history is essential to a costume designer. This dress is based on a drawing by Callot Soeurs. The recreation included pattern making, toile fitting, and hand dyeing lace. At the turn of the Twentieth Century, a woman's bust line was much lower than it is today. To create the correct silhouette I had to look beyond standard pattern cutting.
