This workshop begins with a brief account of the history of pleating and established techniques for making folds. Participants are then encouraged to fold their own origami pattern in paper. We then use calico and interfacing sections to build a pleating mould. Participants can then pleat their own fabric.

The workshop is designed for around 10 participants and it is suitable for undergraduate and postgraduate students, or even faculty who want to learn a new pleating method. The workshop content can be customised according to the target and need.

The Innovative Pleating workshop takes approximately 2 hours, including introduction to pleating, paper folding exercises and mould making.
